~/.experience

Cloudcastle, QuestixBrussels
Co-founder & Lead Engineer2024 – Present
  • Co-founded Cloudcastle with a UX designer and lead Questix end to end: product, architecture, full-stack engineering and infrastructure for an AI-assisted tabletop RPG platform (TypeScript, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Cloudflare Workers).
  • Built a tool-using AI assistant with multi-step orchestration and permission-aware RAG: OpenAI embeddings, vector retrieval, structured user clarification, usage budgets (Vercel AI SDK, OpenRouter).
  • Built durable AI content-generation workflows on Cloudflare Workers (section-level generation, document assembly, signed callbacks) and an MCP server exposing campaign tools to outside agents.
  • Own the prompt layer: a versioned prompt library, a prompt-enhancer pipeline, and an agent operating model (rules, roles, skills) where agents do the groundwork and review and sign-off stay with me.
IndependentBrussels
AI Tooling & Agent Systems2025 – Present
  • Build and evaluate agent harnesses: eval suites, sandboxing and permission models, context management, guardrails against prompt injection. Focus on what makes long-running agents reliable enough to hand to someone else.
  • Build and test the same designs across harnesses (Claude Code, Codex, Hermes; LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI Swarm and the Claude Agent SDK as they shipped), focused on onboarding, integration and what keeps long-running agents reliable in production.
  • Orchestrate fleets of agents with their own system prompts, skills and human-in-the-loop escalation for blocking decisions.
Paradigm (formerly CIRB, Brussels Regional Informatics Centre)Brussels
IT Systems Engineer, then Platform Engineer2020 – 2024
  • Automated provisioning and patching pipelines (Ansible, Bash, Python, PowerShell) and built PRTG monitoring infrastructure (SNMPv3 / WMI).
  • Built CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and ran containerised deployments on OpenShift for municipal applications.
  • Ran the Azure migration (AD Connect, MS365, identity) for the municipality of Anderlecht, 500+ users.
  • Built and maintained the EOS / Lotus Notes integration middleware for the social services department (CPAS); migrated the municipal web stack from PHP 5 to PHP 8 with no downtime.
  • Started as third-line support (AC / CPAS, Windows and Linux servers, Civadis stack); pulled into architecture and core-team decisions, promoted to platform engineer in 2021.
Mister GeniusBrussels
R&D Manager / Software Engineer2018 – 2020
  • Led the replacement of POS and CRM systems across 13 retail locations, from vendor selection to rollout.
  • Built REST API middleware connecting the cloud CRM platform to the accounting software (Python, Visual FoxPro); deployed zero-touch imaging (ZTI / LTI) across segmented store infrastructure via PXE boot.
  • Researched and sourced new technology for the B2B catalogue. Travelled to trade shows and suppliers to bring it back.
Mister GeniusBrussels
Store Manager2016 – 2017
  • First real management role. Ran the shop: daily operations, stock, schedules, suppliers, customers. Hired, trained and managed the junior technicians.
Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Centre de Technologies AvancéesBrussels
IT Coordinator2013 – 2014
  • Maintained the centre's network infrastructure and managed visit scheduling (+50% attendance by year-end).
  • Automated the centre's weekly administrative data entry with Python, Selenium and BeautifulSoup: Excel documents parsed and fed into the web front-end, ten hours of work down to fifteen minutes.

~/.about

I've been building software since I was nine. Self-taught, no formal CS program. I learned by fixing real problems, starting with Batch on the old family 386DX33. Graduated to PowerShell, then Python, and eventually full production systems in TypeScript, React and Node.js. People online know me as daveloper.

Most of my jobs in IT ended the same way: I started automating the manual parts. That habit turned into a platform engineering role at Paradigm, then into Questix, then into the thing I now work on every day: making agents do real work reliably, with the harness, the evals and the guardrails it takes.

Outside work: father of two, worldbuilding, painting.
